Approved Regional Partnerships

 

Bombala Council

Bombala Cuncil have received a grant of $11 000 to implement a Community Development Strategy that aims to work in partnerships with regional communities throughout the shire to build economic and social outcomes. In conjunction with these communities Council will develop community action plans that will identify areas of economic and cultural opportunity, fast track the uptake of new technology and develop tailored development programs based on identified community priorities.

New signage, promotional material in the form of DVDs that contain community and tourism information, economic data and contact details will be developed as well as a web presence for each of the communities.

Mimosa Wines

Mimosa Wines of Bunga near Bermagui have received a grant of $247 311 to establish a boutique wine tourism facility incorporating cellar door, restaurant and convention facilities that showcase our innovative local wines and food, particularly seafood. This unique and progressive local winery is at the cutting edge in the development of premium wines developed from Spanish grape varieties. This project will create in excess of twenty-five direct and indirect jobs in the Bermagui area, providing a significant economic stimulus in the region severely affected by changes to the fishing industry.

The Bega Valley Woodcraft Association

has received $10 000 to help re-establish a clubhouse and training facility following the fire that forced their evacuation from the 'Old Bega Hospital' community facility. The new club house will be built on land provided by the Bega Valley Shire Council and give the 'woodies' a purpose built facility in which to enjoy and practice their craft. They will be able to extend their innovative youth mentoring program which targets troubled and disadvantaged youth, providing them  with positive role models based around rewarding activities that develop personal and life skills.

 

 Delegate Pre School

The Delegate Pre-School has received $110,000 from the Australian Govt's Regional Partnerships programme to help them establish a multi-purpose family facility at the pre-school. This will see the delivery of long day care five days per week, before and after school care for primary school aged children and playgroup incorporating kindy gym and parenting resources.

St John Ambulance- Moruya Division

Regional Partnership funding has assisted St John to purchase a second hand ambulance. It will mean that St John can deliver a much more appropriate , effective and professional service to the Eurobodalla community and relieve local St John members of the need to use their own vehicles, at their own cost in the delivery of their essential services.

McAsh Oysters of Batemans Bay

$60,500

McAsh Oystershave received a $60,500 grant that will be used to purchase a state of the art oyster Grading Machine that all growers on the Clyde River will have access to. The Clyde River is the second largest oyster growing area in NSW. The new Oyster Grader will ensure that this significant local industry will be able to take advantage of the latest modern technology and reap the benefits of projected market growth. Kevin and Ewan McAsh are at the vanguard of the industry conversion to single seed oysters, a uniform, quicker growing Sydney Rock Oyster that will command a premium price and that through its growing cycle needs to be sorted continually to ensure an optimum product. The new Oyster Grader will hasten the conversion to single seed oysters which will also see the environment benefit through the disappearance of tar and cement sticks in the Clyde River and tar pits on the shoreline.

Jindabyne Terrain Park

$88,000

Jindabyne Terrain Park - $88,000 has been granted to the Snowy River Shire Council for the construction of the Jindabyne Terrain Park. Local youth and community groups have been working for several years on raising funds for this project. It will provide a social hub for youth to interact and engage in healthy outdoor pursuits that reflect modern youth culture, giving relatively isolated rural youth the opportunity to enjoy the fun of facilities that are taken for granted in larger urban centres. The park is not only a great facility for local youth. Jindabyne is one of the fastest growing towns in NSW. The park gives Jindabyne a new facility from which to market its reputation as a centre for Xtreme sports. Already a well known centre for its winter sporting activities, Jindabyne now has another attraction to add to its growing list of summer sports activities and events.

Make it Moruya

$24,894

Make it Moruya - $24, 894 has been granted to the Moruya and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry to assist in the delivery of its innovative growth strategy called ‘Make it Moruya’. The strategy has attracted several significant private sector partners and is designed to promote the benefits of visiting, living and working in Moruya and district. The strategy aims to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities offered by the seachange phenomenon by marketing Moruya and environs and all that it has to offer prospective residents and visitors in the form of infrastructure facilities and services. Through this initiative existing industry will grow and new and diversified industry will be established, creating employment opportunities and generating new economic activity that will help to retain youth and overcome social imbalances.

Time for Colour

$8,833

Time for Colour - $8,833 has been granted to the Delegate Community Transaction Centre to assist with the purchase of a new colour photocopier. The new photocopier will help to ensure the financial viability of the CTC which provides a vast array of essential community services, training and fee for service activities to the citizens of Delegate. The CTC will be able to print commercial quality tourism brochures and promotional flyers and undertake small commercial print jobs. Operated by the Delegate Progress Association, the CTC produces a 20 page monthly newsletter, ‘Delegate Doings’ and a quarterly newssheet called “In Our Backyard’, both of which provide locals with a strong sense of community and belonging. The photocopier is used by a vast array of local groups including the Pre-School, P&C, SES, Country Club, P & A Society and the Pony
Club plus several local businesses.

Stop the 4 O’clock Knock

  $48,400

 

This program aims to reduce the unacceptable number of tragic road fatalities and injury trauma among young drivers. Regional Partnerships funding will assist a volunteer program called ‘Stop the 4 O’clock Knock’, which offers powerful, targeted seminars on road safety and survival methods to young drivers and their parents. The project will allow for the evaluation of these seminars by obtaining statistical evidence of the effectiveness of the program in reducing road trauma. The information obtained will be used to substantiate its rationale and secure permanent funding partners, ensuring that its seminars can continue into the future.

Boomerang Meeting Place – Mogo 

$27,500

 

Regional Partnerships funding will assist the Koori Training and Arts and Craft Centre located in the Boomerang Meeting Place to hold practical courses and workshops to improve the educational, vocational and social life skills of Aboriginal people in the Mogo region. The program is aimed at improving social disadvantage by providing the community with opportunities for recognised qualifications and skilled employment.

Adaminaby Snowy Scheme Museum 

$330,000

 

The Adaminaby Snowy Scheme Museum will provide visitors with a vivid insight into one of Australia’s greatest engineering achievements. Built on the back of a multi cultural workforce who came from all over the world to work in some of the most extreme conditions Australia has to offer, the Snowy Scheme has an honoured place in the annals of the Australian high country. The Museum represents not just the physical achievements of the scheme, it offers an insight into the lives and experiences of those who made it a reality  

 

Tuross Head Shared Pathway 

$58,780

 

This project will construct a 1.3 klm length of shared pathway which will connect two existing pathways, forming an uninterrupted length of 3.8 km of pathway along the eastern foreshore of Tuross Head to Kyla Park. Locals and the many tourists who visit this idyllic coastal village will be able to enjoy this stunning and scenic coastal and lakeside journey. The pathway will also improve road safety by allowing pedestrians and cyclists to by-pass the busy Hector McWilliam Drive, the only road in and out of Tuross Head.

Montreal Goldfields

This project, located on the outskirts of Bermagui on the stunning South Coast of NSW, will allow the Montreal Goldfields Committee to restore the historic Montreal Goldfields site. The project adds value to the regions major industry, tourism, and when complete it will provide visitors with a unique insight into a fascinating episode in the history of gold mining in SENSW.

 

 

Eden Whale & Marine Discovery Centre

$49,500
This project will undertake feasibility studies and business planning to determine the viability of establishing an integrated Marine Centre in Eden. The facility, once established it will become a centre of research and learning specialising in the little known marine habitat of South East Australia. It will also offer the tourism industry a unique and special attraction that will cater for visitors in purpose built and designed viewing and interactive display areas.

Culinary Culture

This funding will be used to market the region by establishing a Visitor Information Centre at Bombala and a Culinary Tourist Trail and map for the Monaro and hinterland region of South East NSW. It will emphasise the role of specialty production on the Monaro, giving tourists and day trippers a taste of the food, wine and accommodation offerings of the region.

Narooma Youth Café

$137,500
Regional Partnerships funding will assist Eurobodalla Shire Council to construct the Narooma Youth Cafe that will be an extension to the existing Narooma library. The Café will offer local youth a space in which to gather, socialize and enjoy a wide range of social activities. A range of programmes will be run including practical work skills to enhance employment opportunities, drug and alcohol advice, and joint projects with community groups such as community art and gardening.

Monaro Early Intervention Service

Regional Partnerships funding will assist the Monaro Early Intervention Service to fit-out and furnish their new permanent centre based in Cooma. The centre, managed by a community based committee and employing professional staff provides an essential service to the parents and carers of children with disabilities and learning difficulties throughout the Monaro region.

 

Mogo Zoo

$97,325
Regional Partnerships funding will enable Mogo Zoo, a unique and highly specialised facility for rare and endangered species, to construct a purpose built enclosure to house chimpanzees and redevelop the lion pride and tamarin enclosures. The expansion creates at least four new jobs at the Zoo and offers significant economic benefits to the local tourism industry, the single largest industry in South East NSW.

 

 

Nature Coast Tourism Strategy

$143,000
Regional Partnerships funding will enable Eurobodalla Shire Council to develop and implement appropriate interpretive signage, special tourist information shelters and a series of nature tourism themed brochures, maps and materials to integrate promotional information on the region's nature based tourism assets and services. A marketing plan will also be developed and implemented.

Bermagui Community Hall

$275,000
Regional Partnerships funding will assist the Bega Valley Shire Council to upgrade and re-develop the existing community hall. This project is part of an overall development that will also establish Library, Visitor Information Centre, CTC/RTC, Council offices and meeting rooms which will provide a one-stop-shop service delivery facility for the Bermagui community. It will be the only specific public venue in the area capable of meeting social, cultural and community needs and cater for projected growth over the next 25 years.

Aslings Beach Shared Pathway

Funding will assist the Eden Foreshore Committee and the Eden Services Social Club complete an innovative shared pathway project along the Aslings Beach foreshore. The pathway will provide a significant item of community and tourism infrastructure for the Eden area, greatly improve pedestrian safety and aid in due restoration work. It will also illustrate the maritime history of Eden through a series of inlaid templates spaced along the length of the pathway that have been designed and donated by renowned local artist John Downton.


Pambula SLSC and Community Centre

$275,000
Regional Partnerships funding will assist the Pambula Surf Lifesaving Club to construct a new integrated Clubhouse and Community Centre at Pambula Beach. The new facility will be constructed over two levels and will include a 220 seat public auditorium, kitchen facilities, change-rooms, public toilets, first-aid facilities, storage areas for rescue gear, patrol and communications rooms.
