Recent Dairy Regional Assistance Programme (DRAP) Projects

Continuation of Strategic Response to Dairy RAP

$40,015
This project will provide assistance to dairy regions on the South East NSW, including the Bega and Eurobodalla Shires, and build on the funding base already received from the Dairy RAP programme to date. A project officer will continue to assist dairy-dependent communities in the region to develop worthwhile projects that will maintain and generate sustainable employment and help address social dislocation following the deregulation of the dairy industry.

Alternative Industry Starter Kits

$34,914
This project will provide information kits to dairy dependent communities on financially viable agricultural options which will allow them to make informed decisions on future directions and opportunities in the agriculture sector.

Strategic Response to Dairy RAP Implementation

$39,974
This project will identify, encourage and assist commercial enterprises and not for profit organisations to develop project proposals and will foster enterprise development and promote economic diversification.

Bega Cheese Shredding and Mozzarella Line

$660,645
This project will assist the Bega Cheese Cooperative to install and commission a new shredded cheese and mozzarella processing line at its Bega factory. It will create significant new employment for the region both at the factory and in the broader business community through flow-on effects stimulated by this new economic activity.

Afflick's Meats, Business Expansion

$275,000

This project will assist Afflick's Meats of Moruya to establish new value added lines to its product range. It will see the construction of additional new chiller capacity, boning room and an administration block. The project will generate at least ten new jobs at the plant plus flow-ons throughout the local area. Importantly it will continue to give local beef producers the service of a local processing plant which will significantly increase the numbers of stock it purchases from them.
